MyChef stores the account details, display name, household memberships, pantry and grocery items, recipes, meal plans, dietary preferences, allergy information, subscription status, and support information you choose to provide. If you use the camera or photo picker, the selected image is processed to provide ingredient or barcode features. We do not use your data to train our own models.
We use this information to provide and secure your account, synchronize shared households, generate cooking assistance, personalize recipes, manage subscriptions, send requested expiry or meal notifications, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
MyChef uses Supabase for authentication, database and server functions; OpenAI for requested AI cooking features; Firecrawl for recipe pages you choose to import; USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts for food data; Apple and RevenueCat for iOS purchases; Resend for operational email; and Apple or Google when you choose those sign-in methods. We share only the information needed for each requested feature. Provider processing is subject to their own privacy terms.
The app stores your signed-in session and a limited, user-specific offline snapshot of selected kitchen data on your device so the app can remain useful with poor connectivity. You can remove this data by signing out or deleting your account. Do not use a shared device without signing out.
We retain account data while your account is active. You can delete your account in Profile → Account. If you own a shared household, transfer ownership before deleting your account. Deleting an account removes MyChef account data that we control; Apple subscriptions must be canceled through Apple subscription settings and provider backup or legal-retention schedules may apply.
You can decline camera, photo, notification, Apple, Google, or optional AI features. You can update profile information, manage household access, restore purchases, and contact us to request help with your data.
